https://revistas.uca.es/index.php/gaditana/article/view/12447

The development of an educational project is synonymous with satisfaction for the socio-educational community. Through milestones, a group of teachers from CEIP Celestino Mutis in Cadiz present their intentions to highlight the educational value of their city model. It is a different way of learning to be responsible individuals, to grow up valuing the meaning of living in society, with the rights and duties that this entails. A city within the school, in the heart of the city of Cádiz, which teaches lessons in coexistence and appreciation of people, professions and the need to contribute to improving everything. A teaching model in which they feel like protagonists and learn by doing, feeling and sharing.
español español

There are lives that seem like something out of a film or could inspire a literary work. There are lives that go almost unnoticed and others that take centre stage. In this sense, the life of Carlos Cuarteroni could be described as extraordinary. A defender of men, sensitive and religious, he was everything from a ship's captain to a priest. He lived intensely thousands of kilometres from his native Cadiz, sailing the seas with his brothers and performing feats befitting a person who was as ambitious as he was in his pursuit of justice. He did not tolerate slavery, he could not stand the abuses of the powerful, whether European or native... A fervent Catholic and friend of popes, he served the universal church even though he did not fully connect with it. He made no distinction between religions and believed firmly in the education of the people.
Gonzalo Crespo

If the University's etymological origin lies in the universal, what better forum to discuss everything with everyone than within the University itself? However, this must be done with the utmost respect. Insults and trivialization are unacceptable. In this opinion piece, the author invites reflection, and does so through self-reflection, which enriches and nourishes the text. The focus is on the Cádiz Carnival, and the subject matter is what is up for debate. We are engaged in an exercise of understanding and of conveying understanding/ what to talk about: a destiny, an identity, and ultimately, where is the Carnival headed?
español español

The first «regulation» football field in the city of Cádiz was on the grounds of the National Shooting Club (1911). With the popularization of football, the elite club invested in this emerging sport and made space available for the construction of a playing field adapted to the minimum necessary dimensions and conditions. The Shooting Club ceded the field to the Español Football Club of Cádiz, a newly founded team that was positioned as the city's main team. As the playing field was also used for shooting practice, it was common for it to be filled with bullet casings, which is why it became popularly known as the «Field of Bullets». The field still exists today, although there is no longer a football field or Shooting Club, but in Cádiz it is still known as «Field of Bullets».
español español

https://revistas.uca.es/index.php/gaditana/article/view/12440

The paper approaches the figure of the sculptor born in San Fernando (Cádiz), who is Juan Luis Castro Bey. In order to reconstruct his biography, the report exposes both of the most important periods in his artistic trajectory. On the one hand, it explains what kind of education he received at the School of Arts and Crafts of Cádiz; on the other hand, the period in which the author began in the world of arts: the imagery. Both periods within this biographical review are essential, because they have been related to the artist's upcoming exhibition which is named “Moments”. In this way, the paper illustrates how Castro Bey’s artistic career over the years has influenced his current work.
español español

This qualitative-narrative research project aims to explore the memories of a former student of Valcárcel School in the 1970s and, based on his account, reconstruct part of the history and legacy that the school left on him. Childhood plays an important role in understanding how he experienced those years in relation to physical education, when it was known as gymnastics and futbito (indoor soccer) was the most popular sport among students, according to the informant, a boy who was enrolled in general basic education (EGB). The results are organized around five thematic areas that articulate the journey through memories, physical education, play, and sport. The conclusions established are that the expectations outlined in the research questions have been met.
Flavia Amar

The integration of migrant students is a central challenge for schools in Cadiz, in a social and cultural context characterized by diversity and globalization. This article analyzes the linguistic, social, and emotional barriers faced by immigrant children in the city, as well as the risks of isolation, discrimination, and academic underachievement. The role of learning Spanish is highlighted as a key axis for educational and social inclusion, facilitating curriculum understanding, classroom participation, and the building of meaningful relationships.

Likewise, the importance of comprehensive local educational strategies is emphasized, including welcoming projects, socialization activities and intercultural teacher training, to promote equity and mutual respect in the educational centers of Cadiz. Effective inclusion requires a cooperative commitment between migrant students and the educational community, recognizing that the willingness to integrate is as important as the availability of resources.

The analysis reflects that, although full integration is a complex objective in Cadiz, educational policies and practices aimed at inclusion constitute essential tools to guarantee equal opportunities, strengthen school cohesion and promote the integral development of all students.
español españolespañol español
