Radical dB festival: the expansion of electroacoustic music

The Radical dB festival is a festival dedicated to the dissemination of music that uses technology in a crea tive way and that goes beyond the usual programming of festival circuits. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the festival, whose headquarters are located in Etopia (Art and Technology center of the Zaragoza City Council), we will analyze the aesthetic lines that make up its programming and we will study how one of its main musical axes, electroacoustic music (whose first appearance was in the 50s), it has been redefining itself and extending towards other proposals based on interest in sound, listening and gesture

La Digitalizadora de la Memoria Colectiva. Community culture for the safeguarding of audiovisual social memory

La Digitalizadora de la Memoria Colectiva is a community initiative for the digitization, description, dissemination and conservation of audiovisual memory recorded in analog formats by social groups in the last third of the 20th century. Its team of volunteers is made up of audiovisual, archives, IT and citizen participation professionals. Together they have developed a methodology to accompany those who treasure these audiovisual documents in the task of their preservation. The recovered documents are published openly and dissemination activities are carried out with the aim of reinforcing the cohesion of these groups. This article raises the main risks for the conservation of analogue audiovisual social heritage in Spain. Describes how La Digitizadora’s methodology aims to contribute to responding to this problem from the community culture and reflects on the forms of relationship of this initiative with public and private audiovisual custody institutions.

How can we bill the future? Perhaps we can explore answers, through the art, treating to visit a process that allow us decouple us of any imaginary of future that was not utopian or distópico (or the catastrophe or the salvation), as it suggests Marina Garcés and approach us to the promise, understood this like a possible that there was not, like the preparation of a common time that is not writing, like a way to imagine bonds with others. A time in which the cultural rights off er us a context to put at stake our agency and, exert our paper- as cultural agents- developing strategies sistémicas that involve a deep transformation to attain a worthy life for all the living beings. This cultural transformation, necessary to imagine possible future post apocalyptic, raisin, between other actions, by the capacity that have from the art and the culture to generate narratives, speculations, tools and processes that are responsible with the legacy that have left us our ancestors, with the alive culture that sustain what follows inhabiting our planet, but also with the inheritance that leave to future generations. One of these spaces in which we look for other ways to do so are the common, and particularly those that refer to the community practices of autogestión of a territory: the communities of mountains that manage the mountains in common hand.

The literature of Andrés Caicedo Estela (Cali, 1951-1977) continues to find readers since its rediscovery in the 1980s. It addresses the results of an I+C project that involved the design, prototyping and creation of an application (APP) that allows to travel through the city that inspired his works, making use of immersive and interactive narratives to generate immersive virtual experiences through augmented reality, overlapping planes and post-screen exploration (Cizek, 2016), among those interested in the work or the author, guiding them through tours of Cali, known as the ‘Sucursal del Cielo’ (Heaven’s Branch). According to the results, it is important to create similar experiences with other creators or storytellers, enriching the tourist and cultural offer of the city.

This study addresses, from a theoretical and exploratory perspective, the changes that have taken place within the music industry as a result of the advent of digital platforms and, specifically, the practice of musical microcelebrity. The emergence of the internet gives rise to the dispersion of power in music production, distribution and promotion through new spaces where new strategies and avenues can be created in order to develop a successful music career independently, with the music industry no longer being indispensable for musical success. In this way, a hybrid context is generated in which the traditional industry loses control over the creation, circulation and commercialisation of musical products, while other important actors emerge with whom it must coexist, such as digital platforms, fans and musical microcelebrities.

El contexto de emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19 y las medidas de confinamiento adoptadas transformaron el funcionamiento de los espacios culturales. Las estrategias de gestión de públicos se han adaptado a la necesidad de mantener el contacto con sus públicos, reforzar sus vínculos y proveer acceso a oferta cultural de calidad, en un escenario en que se han agudizado los hábitos de participación cultural digital y ha cambiado la manera de relacionarse con el centro cultural. En este marco, resulta relevante indagar en las estrategias de gestión de públicos que GAM adoptó en el período 2020-2021, y en el uso de sus plataformas online (sitio web y redes sociales) para conectarse con sus públicos. A partir de una metodología mixta para el análisis de caso del Centro Cultural GAM que combina focus groups al equipo del centro cultural, cuestionario online aplicado y entrevistas semiestructuradas a sus públicos, además de la analítica de redes sociales, se ahonda tanto en las estrategias de gestión como en los tipos de relaciones que establecen los públicos con el centro cultural.

What are heritage agents' perceptions of cultural policy in the recovery and promotion of musical heritage?

In the 21st century, in Spain, the emergence of a live early music market is taking place. Perceptions of the different professions linked to the world of early music are analyzed in order to evaluate the cultural policy of promotion with a democratizing orientation on the part of the government. The quantitative and qualitative data show, on the one hand, a lack of knowledge of the music professionals themselves of the democratizing cultural policy and a distance between the perceptions and knowledge according to their professional profiles on the other, highlighting that throughout the value cycle the development of music audiences is not perceived as a priority as something key for the sustainability of the market and the consequent dissemination of the early music heritage.

In recent years, the discourse on cultural policies linked to the materialization of cultural rights has been strengthened. But the data on cultural participation still do not report signs of equity in the social field since they corroborate that inequality remains entrenched in society. Cultural policies, far from the objectives of cultural rights, consolidate inequality in the territory. The working and migrant classes have no or many more difficulties than the wealthy classes in materializing the rights of access and participation in cultural life. This article uses data and examples to show that the large institutional discourses surrounding cultural policies, on cultural development and sustainability, well-being and wealth redistribution, are public myths that do not report effective results. This article is an approach to the study of TEU (Spanish University Theatre) of Cadiz, which had a discontinued thirty-year career. Its sucessive phases, diff erentiated in its decades, are analysed. Similarly, Readers’ Theatre is described, which from the mid-50s complemented and covered the absence of perfomed theatre, highllighting the people who starred in them, as well as its role in the academic fi eld and cultural life of the city; all of this framed in a general context during Franco’s dictatorial regime.
