This issue comprises nine valuable articles from over seven countries (Germany, Argentina/Brazil, Spain, United States, Chile, Italy, and Portugal) addressing key topics and emerging trends in the field of industrial design. The edition hosts innovative research, theoretical perspectives, and noteworthy practical applications.
As customary, each research article has been meticulously selected through our rigorous peer-review process to ensure its undeniable quality and relevance. In this edition, we are pleased to present two outstanding research articles that masterfully link design with the environment and design education, originating from Chile and Italy, respectively. From Zaragoza (Spain), a fascinating development proposes new techniques for the transfer of knowledge on nanomaterials from academia to industry. Additionally, the University degli Studi della Campania provides innovative 5.0 technology-based approaches for human-centered product design. In line with our steadfast commitment to gender equality, we have selected an insightful review of the role of women in the industrial design industry from Purdue University (United States). Furthermore, researchers from Zaragoza explore the concept of "prosumer" as a career path for talented industrial designers.
Moreover, in this edition, we have the honor of featuring the valuable contribution of renowned designer Giuseppe Bonsiepe, who has left an indelible mark in design history through his introduction of the projective design concept. His outstanding academic career, teaching at the renowned Hochschule für Gestaltung (Ulmer School), and his work as a consultant on industrial policies in Latin America grant him undeniable prestige. He is joined by other distinguished guest authors, such as Matthias Laschke (University of Slegen) and Paulo Parra (University of Lisbon). In the former case, Laschke, a renowned researcher, provides a fascinating perspective titled "Friction as a Means of Choice," exploring how interactive objects can contribute to improving users' habits through the application of friction. On the other hand, Parra delves into the origins and evolution of natural inspiration and biomimicry as methods for product design, a highly relevant topic.
From the editorial board, we encourage you to carefully explore the featured articles in this edition and share your reflections and opinions with our esteemed academic community.
