The TEU (Spanish University Theatre) of Cadiz (1938/1968)

Abstract

This article is an approach to the study of TEU (Spanish University Theatre) of Cadiz, which had a discontinued thirty-year career. Its sucessive phases, diff erentiated in its decades, are analysed. Similarly, Readers’ Theatre is described, which from the mid-50s complemented and covered the absence of perfomed theatre, highllighting the people who starred in them, as well as its role in the academic fi eld and cultural life of the city; all of this framed in a general context during Franco’s dictatorial regime.
