«Los creadores son cómplices de la operación de marketing a la que deriva la cultura»  La diferencia es que el teatro en estos últimos diez, quince años ha hecho una deriva hacia la banalización, hacia el entretenimiento y hacia una especie de inflación espectacular, de manera que los espectáculos que tienen éxito se basan en figuras de la televisión o en aparatosidad escenográfica. Tengo la sensación de que está declinando un teatro más esencial. La cultura en general se ha convertido en una especie de producto de lujo. En estos últimos años se ha hipertrofiado la utilización de la cultura como imagen de prestigio y poder. Lo que la institución quiere apoyar es aquello que atrae a multitudes y tiene el máximo de resonancia mediática. I have the feeling that a more essential theater is in decline. Culture in general has become a kind of luxury product. In recent years, the use of culture as an image of prestige and power has become hypertrophied. What the institution wants to support is what attracts crowds and has the maximum media resonance.
