Abstract

The interest for the recovery and conservation of the Documental heritage of the city of San Fernando, which Antonio Sáez Espligares showed during his career, resulted in the rescue of a valuable documentary background composed by photos and letters generated by the Lazaga family. Settled in the departmental city of San Fernando, they might be considered part of the prototype family of navy bourgeoisie of the city that modeled the society of the XIX century and every one of its estates. The study of this epistolary and photographic fund may help us approach and know the daily life and customs of a family inserted in the social life of a city as San Fernando in the XIX and XX centuries, a very difficult task to do following any other kind of documents.
