Abstract

During the Almoravid and Almohad domination of al-Andalus, a rebirth of the Atlantic routes takes place. The Bay of Cadiz acquires then a great comercial and military relevance. In this article, two of the harbourages of the Bay of Cadiz are studied –the Sancti Petri channel and the city of Cadiz itself–, paying attention to the topograhic documentation and the arabian and christian documentary and the archaeological sources.
