Abstract
This paper presents an edition and commentary of a theological debate about the question
of predestination and determinism, between a Sunnite Moslem doctor, Ibn Lubb of Grenade, and a
Jewish partisan of determinism. The dialogue takes place between Islam and Judaism, addressing a
number of religious and juridical questions, producing a theological dispute between the two most
renowned religious doctors of VII/XIV century in Grenade: Ibn Lubb and Abū Isḥāq aš-Šāṭibī. It
constitutes a good sample of openness and dialogue, a very well balanced and moderated treatment
of differences between doctrines and religious schools, as well as a model of controversy within the
general cultural atmosphere of the Nasrite Grenade.
