Retrato del artista rock: Tres aproximaciones. Miradas de cine sobre The Rolling Stones, The Clash y Nick Cave.

Abstract

Una exploración de la relación existente entre el medio cinematográfico y tres nombres clave de la historia del rock. La filmografía inicial de The Rolling Stones, ligada a cineastas con vocación de vanguardia como Jean-Luc Godard, Robert Frank o los hermanos Maysles; la posibilidad de un cine según los preceptos del punk y su aplicación a una de las bandas emblemáticas del movimiento en Inglaterra: The Clash; y la singularidad que ha caracterizado cada una de las apariciones en el cine del australiano Nick Cave, tanto en su vertiente de cantante como en la de guionista. El texto contiene extractos de “Sueños eléctricos. 50 películas fundamentales de la cultura rock”, que el autor presentó en la Universidad de Cádiz, en el marco del programa Tutores del Rock.

A portrait of the artist as a rock star: Three approaches. The movies of The Rolling Stones, The Clash and Nick Cave   Abstract: An exploration of the relationship between the cinematographic medium and three key names in the history of rock. The fist titles in the filmography of The Rolling Stones, linked to avant-garde filmmakers such as Jean-Luc Godard, Robert Frank or the Maysles brothers; the possibility of a cinema according to the precepts of punk and its application to one of the emblematic bands of the movement in England: The Clash; and the singularity that has characterized each one of the appearances in cinema of the Australian Nick Cave, as much in his slope of singer as in that of scriptwriter.
