Resumen
Este texto es una introducción al número especial de la revista Periférica, dedicado a la temática de la gestión y las políticas culturales en las ciudades vinculadas a la alianza de la Universidad Europea de los Mares (SEA-EU) formada por la Universidad de Cádiz (España), la Universidad de Bretaña Occidental en Brest (Francia), la Universidad de Kiel (Alemania), la Universidad de Gdansk (Polonia), la Universidad de Split (Croacia) y la Universidad de Malta. En primer lugar, se introduce la alianza SEA-EU. A continuación, se reconoce el papel de la cultura en el desarrollo de las ciudades, revisando algunos de los principales documentos políticos que abogan por el desarrollo impulsado por la cultura a nivel municipal y regional. En tercer lugar, se reflexionará sobre el impacto de las universidades en la vida cultural de las ciudades. Por último, se presentan las contribuciones de este número especial.
Cultural management and policies in SEA-EU cities – an introduction
Abstract: This text is an introduction to a special issue of the Periférica journal, devoted to the topic of cultural management and policies in the cities of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) alliance, formed by the University of Cadiz (Spain), the University of Western Brittany in Brest (France), the University of Kiel (Germany), the University of Gdansk (Poland), the University of Split (Croatia) and the University of Malta. Firstly, the SEA-EU alliance is presented. Secondly, the role of culture in city development is acknowledged, by reviewing some of the main policy documents that advocate for culture-led development at the city and regional level. Thirdly, we reflect on how universities impact the cultural life of cities. Finally, the contributions within this special issue are presented.
