Sustainable materials and waste reduction
Abstract
This article analyzes the importance of using sustainable materials in product design to reduce pollution on the planet, offering examples of natural or recycled materials that can be used as substitutes for more common and polluting materials, such as plastic and other long-lasting ones. The methodologies used were the bibliographic review and the comparison between materials, from which two categories were created: materials made from waste and biodegradable natural materials. The results show that the large-scale use of materials of these two types in design would significantly reduce the amount of waste from design-related products.
