Abstract

The presence of skulls with trepanation in Andalusia is very low, but not non-existent. The practice of trepanation is considered one of the oldest known surgical techniques. This has spread to every continent, and today there are still primitive cultures that practice (Campillo, 2011). The application of this surgical technique is meant not only for physical illnesses, but also could be applied to individuals  with some type of mental illness. With this communication it wants to review the status of the matter.
