Abstract

This  work  has  as  aim  giving  an  analysis  about  paleolithic  occupation  of  hunter-gatherer societies  in  the  Geohistorical  Region  of  the  Gibraltar  Strait,  especially  at  spaces  that  we  called ‘’mountainous environments’’, defined for their geographic and geological characterization. To that end, and taking Social Archaeology as methodology, we draw a sequence that will allow us to know the way  of  life  and  production  of  the  hunter-gatherer  groups  from  the  first  occupations  (Mode  I)  to  the final moments of Paleolithic (Mode IV). Likewise, we analyze other aspects in a geological/geographic and historiographical sense in order to understand the current status of the issue.
