Abstract

In this study we present a new type of talisman figured from the medieval Islamic period found in Nina Alta (Teba, Málaga, Spain). These new finding allow us to advance in the knowledge of the symbolic interpretation of Islamic anthropomorphic talismans. The iconography of the piece that we present here allows us to link it with the science of correspondence, known in the field of Islamic gnosis withthename "science of the Balance" and practiced by alchemists.
