Ramón Garay (1761-1823), Chapel Master at the Jaén Cathedral
Abstract
The artistic personality of the Spanish composer Ramón Garay is one of the highlights of the history of Spanish music in the second half of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. As author of a large and extraordinary musical output, which covers a wide range of sacred and profane music genres, was also one of the first Spanish composers to cultivate the orchestral symphony. Despite the prestige he could enjoy in life, only recently has begun its work to be studied and performed.
