Abstract

This study analyses the first twelve numbers of the journal El Español, edited by José María Blanco White between April 1810 and March 1811 in London. The main objective of this paper is to describe the importance of this journal as means of transatlantic intellectual exchange in this period. The text will attempt to prove that El Español constitutes, in itself, a space of transatlantic communication by the negotiation of the cultural meridian between Spain and America in the texts. To achieve this, the paper will develop an interpretation of the figures of transit, migration and exile found in El Español.
