The «Diputados del Común» and the «Síndico Personero» of the Palma city council (1766-1808)

Abstract
The municipal reform of Carlos III, preceded by the mutiny of Esquilache riots happened in Madrid during the months of March and April 1766, was the main attempt to resolve the serious problems which suffered from the local administration. The reform altered the municipal structure by introducing representatives of the joint and reduces the power of the local nobility in favour of society middle classes. This work analyzes the figures of the «Diputados del Común» and «Síndico Personero» of Palma City Council in the period 1766-1808, the system of election, the performance of its functions, the relationship with other municipal charges and the complete listing of members and «Diiputados del Común» and «Síndico Personero» of Palma.
