Romancero Gaditano 2024: ¡Quillo, take it with philosophy!

Abstract

The Carnival of Cádiz presents a unique heritage, rooted in lyrics inspired by the world around us and often imbued with a comic and ironic perspective. A comicality that is made to coincide -or, at least, it is tried- with intelligence; something that happens, in a great number of cases, in the modality of Romancero of Carnival and which, despite being less well known, it does not detract from its capacities and recognitions. This modality has years of endorsement underwriting the applause of fans and onlookers of this cultural phenomenon that moves manifest sensibilities, stirs emotions of any nature and promotes smiles and happiness, asking only for the affection of its audience in return. The Romancero of Carnival, which is synonymous with generosity, humor and the spirit of street Carnival, is nothing more than a combination of knowledge and the invitation to laughter, accompanied by a certain dose of social criticism.
