Statement of ethics and good publishing practice

PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is a scientific journal that ensures the dissemination and transfer of knowledge in the field of International Law and International Relations, in general, and in the Euro-Mediterranean Region and in the relations between Spain and Morocco, in particular. The Journal and its editorial team state their responsibility to guarantee maximum rigour and scientific quality, in compliance with the ethical commitments that must rule the different processes of publication of research papers in this Journal. To this end, the following ethical commitments and good publication practices are hereby adopted.

I. EDITORIAL BOARD

The Editorial Board and the Direction of the Journal will be responsible for making decisions about the evaluation process of the articles received, for ensuring the scientific quality of the published works and for taking the appropriate measures in the event of possible malpractice. The Editorial Board shall act in accordance with the principles of independence, impartiality, objectivity and confidentiality. Under the principle of independence, the criteria for the publication of papers will be the interest of the topic and the scientific quality of the work. The experts involved in the evaluation of the papers will be appointed by the Editorial Board or the Journal's Directors on the basis of their knowledge of the subject matter of the papers to be evaluated. The members of the Editorial Board are obliged to maintain confidentiality with respect to the texts received for publication in the Journal and the progress of the evaluation process. The assignment to the expert reviewers of the papers will be made without revealing the identity of the authors. Members of the Editorial Board and external reviewers are strictly forbidden to use any element of the papers submitted to the Journal for their research activities until they have been published.

The content of the Journal focuses on International Law and International Relations, in general, and the Euro-Mediterranean Region and the relations between Spain and Morocco, in particular. Therefore, all the members of the Editorial Team of the Journal PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations, are experts of recognised prestige in this field.

II. AUTHORS AND AUTHORS' RESPONSIBILITIES

The PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations, publishes research papers on International Law and International Relations, in particular on relations in the Euro-Mediterranean Region and Spain-Morocco Relations. The publication of papers and contributions in the Journal is open to all specialists regardless of their nationality. Authors will not be charged any fee for the submission of articles or publication.

Only original and unpublished papers will be accepted. Authors agree to participate in the peer-review process of the PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations. In the case of a co-authored article, all authors must have contributed significantly to the research. All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of errors.

Authors should also provide a list of their references and mention the financial support that contributed to the research to be published.

III. PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All journal content will be peer-reviewed.

The journal's management boards will decide on the publication of the papers on the basis of two review reports issued by two specialists from outside the journal's editorial organisation, applying the double-blind system. The creativity, rigour, methodology, proposals and contributions of the papers will be evaluated. This information is clearly described on the following website: https://revistas.uca.es/index.php/paetsei/about/submissions in the section called PUBLICATION PROCESS.

Judgements made by specialists outside the editorial organisation will be objective and free of conflicts of interest. In the review reports, the reviewers may point out relevant published works and other references that have not been cited by the author/authors. The review process of the articles will be carried out in confidentiality.

IV. ETHICS OF PUBLICATION

The Editorial Team of the PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is committed to take reasonable measures to identify and prevent the publication of articles in which research misconduct has occurred.

Under no circumstances shall PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations or its Editorial Team encourage such improper conduct, nor will they knowingly allow it to happen.

In the event that a member of the Journal's Editorial Team becomes aware of any allegations of research misconduct, the Directors and the Executive Director will deal appropriately with such allegations.

Publication may be conditional on changes to the original version, and subject to modifications in accordance with the Editing Rules. Communication of the decision on publication, publication after revision, or non-publication, shall be reasoned and shall not exceed six months. Authors of papers accepted for publication may be requested to correct printing proofs, which must be returned within 48 hours. Substantial changes to such proofs are not permitted and are limited to the correction of errors with respect to the accepted version. The Editorial Team is willing to publish amendments, clarifications, retractions and apologies when necessary.

V. COPYRIGHT AND ACCESS

It is a requirement for publication that the author(s) grant exclusive reproduction rights to the Journal. PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is an open access journal. Its content is open, free of charge, to any individual user or institution. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of published articles, or use them for any other purposes, within the limits of the law. And they may do so free of charge, and without the need to request permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition of open access.

VI. ARCHIVES

The journal PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is hosted on the portal Revistas Científicas de la Universidad de Cádiz, under the Servicio de Publicaciones of the Editorial UCA. The Publishing of Electronic Journals by the Editorial UCA is regulated by the Reglamento UCA/CG09/2014, de 16 de diciembre, de Revistas Electrónicas de la Universidad de Cádiz (Aprobado por el Consejo de Gobierno de la Universidad de Cádiz de 16 de diciembre de 2014. BOUCA núm. 179) Article 17 of which reads as follows:

Document registration. The Electronic Journals Platform will have a protocol for the registration and conservation of documents, for which the RODIN repository and the technical support of the Library and Archives Area, a unit that will provide the HANDLE register in each necessary case, will be available.

VII. OTHER PRINCIPLES OF TRANSPARENCY AND BEST PRACTICE:

Frequency of publication. PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is published annually. The publication date of each issue corresponds to the first day of the corresponding opening month. However, the journal tries to approximate to continuous publication systems by immediately including, as a pre-print, articles that are accepted.

Name of the journal. The name of the journal PEACE & SECURITY-PAIX ET SÉCURITÉ INTERNATIONALES-EuroMediterranean Journal of International Law and International Relations is unique and is not to be confused with any other journal and does not mislead authors and potential readers about the origin of the journal or its association with other journals.
