Perception of institutional legitimacy and composition of the construct in a sample of foreign minors living on the streets
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the perception of institutional legitimacy of a sample of unaccompanied foreign minors in a street situation and to know how the variables that the academic literature has indicated that form the concept of legitimacy are grouped. The increase in unaccompanied foreign minors living on the streets, the lack of studies that try to find out which components make up the perception of legitimacy for this group and the consequences that legitimacy has on compliance makes the work presented here especially important. Specifically, the perception of legitimacy of the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard and the protection center have unaccompanied foreign minors who are in a street situation in the autonomous city of Ceuta. And how the variables that make up the legitimacy construct are grouped into factors. The results show, through a quantitative methodology, that the perception of legitimacy, as well as the factorial grouping, does not follow a general pattern, but rather depends on the institution analyzed.
