Abstract

The Cadiz Carnival exhibits every February on the stage of El Gran Teatro Falla, the essence of Cadiz, its art, its strength and its social claim are proclaimed from the rooftops, groups of men and women participate in a contest for which they have rehearsed for months, behind are long hours of effort and dedication in which they have disbursed part of their savings to offer their best staging, they have had difficulties in reconciling their family, work and carnival life. Problems that are more notable in the majority of women from Cadiz, this article focuses on them, because many women from Cadiz have the ability to sing, but they do not see their worth recognized in the contest and outside of it they do not find real possibilities to earn a living singing and proclaiming to the four winds that love Cádiz and its Carnival, which is above gender and inequality, because the carnival is felt, and that feeling overcomes any social justice.
