Abstract

El subtítulo nos indica queel libro recoge los últimosquinientos años con esas fechas emblemáticas del 1500 y 2000. El autor recoge estas fechas como "señales enfáticas"de unos acontecimientos fundamentales en la cultura occidental. Tratando historia, filosofía, arte, ciencia y sociedad, divide el libro en cuatrograndes revoluciones: la religiosa, la monárquica, la liberal y la social, que coincidencon periodos de más de cienaños y "cuyos fines y pasiones gobiernan aún nuestro espíritu y nuestra conducta".

Abstract: The subtitle tells us that the book collects the last five hundred years with those emblematic dates of 1500 and 2000. The author collects these dates as "emphatic signs" of fundamental events in Western culture. Treating history, philosophy, art, science and society, he divides the book into four great revolutions: the religious, the monarchical, the liberal and the social, which coincide with periods of more than one hundred years and "whose ends and passions still govern our spirit and our conduct".
