The emancipation. Social logics and family uses in Early Modern Catalonia

Abstract
Based on diverse sources from family and patrimonial archives, this study examines the reasons that led fathers and mothers, as holders of parental authority, to emancipate their sons; which sons were typically granted emancipation; the advantages associated with such decisions; and their effects on families and kinship relations.
