Abstract
“Psych verbs between description and theorization”. The present work deals with psych verbs based on descriptive and analytical approach. In the first paragraph, we classify psych verbs in two semantic classes or fields dependent a set of properties and features. We assume a semantic hierarchical that governs the items construction of each class and the lexicalization of these verbs. Also, we demonstrate that the semantic extension seems to be consistent with the supposed hierarchy.
In the second paragraph, we point out that each verb contains two meaning: nuclear meaning and idiosyncratic meaning. The nuclear meaning is common / shared between verbs of semantic field, while the idiosyncratic meaning serve to distinguish one verb from the others with witch share meaning aspects. The transition from nuclear meaning to idiosyncratic meaning is based on gradability and time extension properties.
