Songs of Al-Andalus by the Lebanese poet Fawzī al-Ma'lūf

Abstract
In this article we analyze the works about Andalusian subject, done by the Lebanese poet Fawzī al-Ma‘lūf (1899 1930), who emigrates to Brasil in 1921. It starts with a short introduction to the mahjari literature in Latin America and its relationship with the modernist Spanish poet Francisco Villaespesa. Then, a drama, a loose poeme and, specially, the diwan entitled Chants to al Andalus are described and analy zed. All that informs about the magnitude of Andalustan ingre dient in the works of the meridional Mahŷar poets and about Ma‘lūf's way of writing poetry.
