Abstract
This reflection on a century of Spanish Arabism is simply a personal, first-hand perception of how the study of Muslim Spain has developed since the 1870's. We have tried to offer a succinct, retrospective view of the state of the question, looking into some issues regarding the meaning of Spanish Arabism, and analysing the serene confrontation between a traditional school and a modern school; a new Arabism which looks to the future in a way that is obvious at first sight.
