Abstract
This article is divided in two different parts: a) A literary comment of a short story of the Syrian writer Zakariyā Tāmir. This story belongs to his first collection The neigh of the white horse (Ṣahīl al-ŷawād al-abyaḍ), published in 1960. b) The second part is a translation of the story, "The river is dead" ("al-Nahr mayyit"), from Arabic language into Spanish.
