Abstract
The subject of the renegades has been a regular one in the Spanish literature, specially during the "Golden Century". Obviously, in the Middle Age, the apostasy was a very frequent phe nomenon at the frontiers through the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. It decreased in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Each renegade is an explorer of a virgin territory: his own life. Linked to individualism is the capacity of adaptation. There is no doubt that the historical renegades had been able to adapt to their new environment; so easily since the second generation, the conscionsness of the differential fact was lost; as it is verifiable among some North-African families having this kind of origin, and even in present cases. Consequently, this also happens with renegades in litera ture. Here, we will present analysis on this literature in Morocco, taking as a starting point the 19th century.
