Abstract
"'Abbās ibn Firmās: from historic figure to literary character in Zakariyyā Tāmir's narra tive". After a brief study about 'Abbās ibn Firmās's life, this paper analyses the figure of this Andalusian poet as contemporary and literary character in two Zakariyyā Tāmir's short stories which have been translated at the end of this article. One of the short stories is "The flayer" which belongs to the volume Damascus of the Fires, 1973. The other one, "It is said that 'Abbās ibn Firmās", is included in Noah's Summons, 1994.
