Abstract
El siguiente trabajo trata una de las etapas fundamentales de la historia de la restauración del obispado asidonense: el siglo XVIII. Centuria ilustrada de importantes cambios, la ciudad e iglesia de Jerez aprovecharon la coyuntura histórica para reivindicar la antigua sede visigótica y separarse de la sede hispalense. La documentación del Archivo Catedral de Sevilla permite adentrarnos en el pleito que sostuvieron y contrastar la información original con la bibliografía actual.
