Abstract
“Categories and services in the army of the Almoravid dynasty in Arabic sources”. This paper provides the reader with abundant and varied information on the organization of the army of the Almoravid dynasty, based on a number of historical sources and references written in Arabic, both ancient and modern. This is an interesting addition to the modern studies published on the same topic written in Western languages.. The article starts with the premise that a single category can not win a battle, which involves the collaboration and coordination between all categories and services: fighter, assistance and administrative. The article pays special attention to the Arab names of each category and service, as reflected in Arabic sources
