Abstract

Claiming in the first place how and why the definition of atafea in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language (D.R.A.E.) constitutes an evident error, the author proposes to take into consideration latin translations made in Toledo in the 12th century as primary data of romance lexicon, especially in what refers to arabisms in Spanish.
