Abstract

Abstract: In this article we have collected 16 poems by the Tunisian writer Abū l-Qāsim al-Šābbī (1909-1934), whose central motives are pain, death and hope. Most of these poems, included in his diwan entitled Agānī al-ḥayāh, were written in the last years of his life, when al-Šābbī already has forebodings of his early death.
