Abstract
The author proposes the compare the different calendar systems used simultaneously in the Mediterranean region. Thus, possible errors could be corrected and new facts discovered. Dates of the Muslim Hijra era are found in many documents of the Middle Ages, often together with other chronologies. As the Hijra has been constantly used till our days, it could be an excellent instrument to check the veracity of other historical dates.
