The mufti and the fatwa in Islamic law. Notes for an institutional study.
Info
Abstract
This paper presents a general vision of the institution of the mufti and the fanwd in the Middle Ages based on the main works about this question. This is completed with an original con tribution from the material included in a great compilation of fatāwī: al-Wanšarīsī's Mi'yār. This provides a new approach to this subject, since most previous studies have been based on bio-biblio graphical and historical-geographical sources.
