The limits of traditionalists mobilisation in Huelva province: From The Second Republic to The Civil War (1931-1937)
Abstract
The Traditionalist Communion was not a deeply rooted political force in Huelva despite the
organizational and propagandist boost carried out during the Second Republic (1931-1936).
The Civil War that followed the unsuccessful coup d’état in July 1936 allowed it to reach a
greater degree of mobilisation –especially its paramilitary organization, Requeté–, although
always shadowing FE de las JONS, with who they had a tense relationship. The Unification
Decree adopted in April 1937 eliminated any future possibility of autonomous growth. The
analysis of this process is addressed following carlist sources as wells as other generated
by the Falange.
