Abstract
«The Moroccan Arabic of Ceuta and school failure: a review through the local press and educational research (2005-2018)». Ten years ago we conducted an investigation on school failure in Ceuta. It is proven that the causes of it are always, and in all places, multifactorial. However, the Ceuta population of Christian-Western origin, and within it the teaching staff that is mostly Spanish-speaking, points out as the main cause the use of Ceuta Arabic, the mother tongue of at least 70% of the Arab-Muslim school population of the city. On the other hand, some research and quite a few groups of the Ceuta civil society reject that bilingualism itself as the essential factor. In this work we analyze, through the local press and the results of the investigations that have directly or tangentially touched on this subject, the assessments and proposals of the academy and civil society during the last thirteen years.
