Abstract
El estudio del hábitat fortificado comunitario es un elemento capital para la comprensión de las formas de ocupación y de la gestión del espacio rural en el Marruecos medieval. A través de las fuentes escritas relativas a los siglos XIII y XIV, este artículo intenta explicar las relaciones entre este fenómeno y la evolución del poblamiento. Las relaciones de las comunidades tribales con el poder estatal contribuyen igualmente al desarrollo de estas estructuras fortificadas.
