Abstract

Este artículo analiza brevemente las distintas teorías sobre la autobiografía, los límites entre historia y ficción para posteriomente describir el conflicto de identidad al que se enfrentan las mujeres inglesas del siglo XVIII cuando desean escribir una autobiografía en la que su representación debe concordar con el sumiso rol que la sociedad patriarcal del dieciocho ha diseñado para ellas.
