Abstract
The research developed in the LEXIMOR project arises from the need to empirically justify a methodological change in the teaching of morphology in Spanish as a mother tongue and to guide, based on the results, its didactics. The research has been structured in two parts: 1) a metacognitive exploration carried out with 355 university students and 106 secondary school teachers by means of two different questionnaires (ExCoge and ECOMorfo), to collect their experiences, knowledge and opinions about school grammar, and 2) an empirical research of psycholinguistic nature carried out with 144 secondary school students to measure their relational, syntactic and combinatory knowledge of morphology and to assess the predictive features of lexical recognition based on morphological knowledge. The results have been statistically analyzed in both investigations and show, jointly, an absence of sequential development indicating the effects of morphology teaching time and a generalized perception of lack of effectiveness of structural didactics. The effects of the repetitive curriculum are reflected in the results of the empirical tests and support the need for a methodological change focused on relational morphology and a connectionist model that prioritizes morpholexical meaning.
