Abstract
Introduction: There are few questionnaires and/or scales that evaluate the relationship we humans have with the natural environment and none of them are in Spanish. The aim of this study is to translate and validate the Nature Exposure Scale-II, which measures direct exposure to the natural environment. Materials and methods: Prospective study, carried out with the collaboration of the Catholic University of Valencia from a sample of 200 university students. The scale was translated by means of a structured procedure. After translation, a cross-sectional observational study was carried out to confirm its validity and consistency, using Cronbach's α to measure reliability and the factor loadings to measure the correlation between the different items. Results: In the reliability tests, the scale has obtained a Cronbach's α greater than 0.7 and a consistent factorial analysis result. Discussion: The results obtained establish the scale as a valid and reliable instrument for measuring contact with the natural environment. Conclusion: The translation of the Nature Exposure Scale-II is presented as a useful tool in the field of nature research in the Spanish-speaking world.
