Abstract
This article aims to establish a parallelism on the Grail theme between the first Islamic sources and the Persian literature, on one side, and on the other, the Western medieval literature, dealing with two works: the French, Le Conte du Graal by Chrétien de Troyes and the German, Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach. After a brief review of the eastern origin of the Grail, its manifestations as a vessel and stone within the framework of Islamic symbology, term etymology, and relationship with the feminine principle are provided.
