Abstract
Dīwān kadas and the Revivification of Shadow Play in Egypt. A small nucleus of scholars became interested in Dīwān kadas ‘Divan of Shadow Play’ and was given to study it in order to bring to light new Egyptian texts of the genre. But despite these efforts it has not come to draw a new map of art, nor dispel the terminological deficiencies, or highlight techniques that were used in the shadow play`s performance. This article tries to explore again this Dīwān, providing information about the representatives of genre, since the XVI century. Pay special attention also to the meaning of kadas and its relation with the theatrical area, supporting on considerations of linguistic as literary nature. Finally, an anthology of translated poems is given.
