Abstract
Translation and study of the passages relating to the celebration of the-Nawrūz in medieval sources, carnivalesque festivity par excellence in the Moslem Middle Ages. A series of customs and traditions of this celebration are analyzed in order to express its forms, symbols and significance, resting on the considerations of Mikhail Bakhtin and other experts on the folk culture.
