Abstract
This study made to the light of the arabic medieval documentation pretends to show the situation of the khidma like a key institution in the political and administrative structures of the andalusian state during the umayyad period, from the emirate to the beginning of the fifth/eleventh century. Reviewing the several aspects his concept, we propose the possible relation between the personal service given to the umayyad sovereigns from Cordova and the idea of some services connected with the simple governmental field.
