Abstract
The main objective of this paper is the Arabic edition of the chapter of the waw letter of the Kitāb al-Ŷāmiʿ, the treatise of the 12th-13th century Andalusian scientist Ibn al-Bayṭār. For this effort, the base manuscript that we have selected, for its antiquity, has been nº 840 of the Library of El Escorial (fols. 223r-225r). We have also relied on manuscripts 839 (292r-294v) from the same library and on Col. Gayangos CXXV (Volume 3, 185v-191r) from the Library of the Royal Academy of History in Madrid, in this order, to perform the task of collating and correcting errors or difficult readings presented in the base manuscript. The second objective is to present a Spanish translation of the same chapters. These two main tasks are accompanied by a brief contextualization of the author and his work, along with some broad strokes on the manuscripts used here and the sources and authorities that appear in this chapter.
