Abstract
Article based on the analysis of a newspaper corpus belonging to the late
Eighteenth and early Nineteenth Century. Clavijo y Fajardo, Romea y Tapia, Rubín de Celis, Larra, Mesonero Romanos, Antonio Flores, Fermín Caballero, among others,
analyzed the figure of the maid from various perspectives; so the multiplicity of views and evolution of behavoir in the society in which she lived. Study also includes mainly the analysis of the main in the collection Los españoles pintados por sí mismos (1843-1844).
