Nation, liberty, revolution. Liberal patriotism from the Second of May to the Cortes (1808-1810)
Info
Abstract
The liberal patriotism turned the war against the invader into a revolution to conclude the despotism period (which had carried Spain through it decadence), and to create a freedom system. The native country was not only (with that meaning) the place you were born, but it was turned in a freedom men country by its regulations. Liberals spread out that kind of patriotism (between 1808 and 1810) through the political literature and the press, among other media. This paper analyses and rebuilds the liberal patriotism speech (with its three axes: nation, freedom and revolution), through its main propagandists.
