Otras lecturas románticas sobre Chatterton

Resumen
La nueva corriente revisionista en torno a la consideración de Chatterton como símbolo emblemático del suicidio romoántico, encabezada por Groom (1999) y Hays (2005), sirve de punto de partida para este artículo, que contrasta la interpretación del mlto en lecturas románticas de Scott, De Vigny, De Quincey y Browning. Un análisis comparativo de sus representaciones de Chatterton prueba que la apropiación del mito y del motivo del suicidio se hace en clave personal e interesada, generando nuevos y significativos textos románticos y manteniendo una tradición que paulatinamente se transforma, como probarán obras más tardías como Míddlemarch de George Eliot.
