Abstract

This practical activity shows how certain gases absorb long wave infrared radiation, which allows to explain what is happening on a large scale in the atmosphere of the Earth in the so-called «greenhouse effect».

Author Biography

Josep Corominas Viñas, Profesor

Josep Corominas Viñas,  licenciado en ciencias químicas por la Universidad de Barcelona, es profesor de física y química en la Escuela Pía de Sitges. Ha impartido numerosos cursos de formación del profesorado y escrito unos cuantos artículos sobre trabajos prácticos de química en varias publicaciones y ha colaborado en varios libros de didáctica de la química. Ha ganado dos primeros premios y una mención honorífica en el concurso nacional “Ciencia en acción” en demostraciones de química.  Es profesor formador del Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Actualmente además,  escoordinador del proyecto “Química en contetxt” para el bachillerato
